Meat is murder. Tasty, tasty murder.

It's no secret that Stew and I are carnivores.

In fact, I believe that if God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat. Seriously, who doesn't love bacon? You? Well then you may want to stop reading my blog until you come to your senses and apologize to me. AND THE BACON.

So we hopped in the truck after work on Friday and took ourselves on a spontaneous road trip to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Annual BBQ Cookoff. Which is really just a long, wordy title. Basically, we ate meat. And more meat. With a side of meat. And when we couldn't shovel down another bite, we fought through the meat sweats and ATE MORE DELICIOUS BARBECUED MEAT.

To all the cows who met their fates in order for this awesome culinary experience to take place, Thank You. God has a special place for you in cow heaven. And it's probably between 2 slices of bread, next to a side of baked beans. I'm just sayin'...

Here are some photos of all the barbecued awesomeness:

I imagine the gates to heaven will resemble this.

Ribs, Brisket, Tater Salad & Sauce

Cowboy flower arrangements.

Airplane meat smoker. The FAA would be proud.

Hydro-powered pig roast. Genius.

I heeded his warning.

Story of my life

Sometimes Every 5 minutes I have to remind myself that I FINISHED COLLEGE. I also have to remind myself that Stew is probably getting a wee bit tired of waking me from my recurring school nightmare and assuring me that THERE IS NO BETTER GRADE THAN AN A.

To which I reply, "A+." Which is what they would have printed on my bachelor's degree if I had any say in it.

Pinch Me

It's been over a week with no post. I'm aware of this.

Honestly though, with SO MUCH going on in the past 10 or 15 days, any words I could muster up to type would come out as a rambling mishmash of incoherent thoughts. Don't ask me how that's different from normal. Just don't.

"Who-Dat-gotta-pee-on-the-Lombardi-trophy-while-Drew-Brees-throws-me-somethin-mista-and-parks-my-car-15-feet-from-a-fire-hydrant-or-else-gets-a-ticket-Heyyyy-pockey-way-SHOCKEY-doubloons-more-king cake-please-and-thank-you-Sean-Payton."

Yup. I warned you. That's the craziness that's been marching through the old noggin as of late. And crazy never felt so...well...crazy. But good crazy. Like the Saints just won the Superbowl a week before Mardi Gras and then it almost snowed crazy.

Mardi Gras pics will follow soon. As soon as I wake up from this crazy dream...

Bucket List Week

If you're looking for a poignant post about THE SAINTS WINNING THE SUPERBOWL, you're not gonna find it here. Yet. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. Much like Tracy Porter wrapped his hands around that football when he intercepted Peyton Manning. But I digress...

Anyway, in the past week, things have been falling into place for yours truly. And her whole city, if we're gonna name names. My mom got a mean case of the sick (thanks Mom!) and I got to take her place riding in my first ever Mardi Gras parade. It. Was. Un. Be. Liev. Able.

Then, I'm not sure if you heard, hell froze over and THE SAINTS WON THE SUPERBOWL. I figure the only thing left on my "Things to do Before I Die" List is to win the lotry. That and the whole conquering the world thing. And honestly, THE SAINTS WINNING THE SUPERBOWL may have just taken care of that for me. And it probably feels just as nice.

Proud Who Dat,
Suzie

JuneBug

I spent last weekend in Seattle snuggling with this little bundle of cuteness, and to answer your questions:

1.) Yes, my heart did melt.
2.) Yes, I did manage to resist the urge to gobble up her little swamp feet. Seriously, how delicious would those little toes be dipped in Honey BBQ sauce?

Jeff and Katie, you made one awesome baby. June Aubrey, you've got two awesome parents. And I can't wait til you're old enough for me to tell you all the crazy stuff your mama did in her youth...
